Arthur S. Way renders the Argonautica into rolling English couplets. Warned by an oracle against a man with one sandal, King Pelias sends Jason across the sea to win the Golden Fleece; the heroes of the Argo sail through the Clashing Rocks to Colchis, where King Aietes sets impossible tasks and his daughter Medea falls fatally in love.
The one surviving Greek epic of the Argo’s voyage, and the source of nearly every later retelling of Jason and Medea. Download the free EPUB.
