Sylvester Lanyon has lived for years under a shadow from his past, and he answers a young woman’s conviction that life is glorious with gentle irony. Between his relations with his father and son, a consultation of the stars, a Frenchman named Leroux and the Walden art colony, Locke builds a drama of temptation, debt and redemption.
An early novel by the author of The Beloved Vagabond, already showing his gift for sympathetic outsiders. Download the free EPUB.
