Ambrose Meyrick is a pupil at Lupton, an English public school devoted to games, conformity and the cult of the house, under a pompous headmaster. Within him he carries something quite different: memories of the Welsh hills, of ancient saints and of a sacred vessel his family has kept hidden, and visions that set him wholly against the school.
Machen called it a book everybody would hate, and it is both a savage satire and one of his most mystical works. Download the free EPUB.
