In Edwardian Kensington, the writer Hilary Dallison and his sister-in-law Cecilia live comfortable, liberal lives shadowed by the poverty they prefer not to see. When Hilary’s wife takes up a young girl as a model and the family makes pilgrimages to Hound Street, their good intentions and class instincts tangle in a quiet, painful comedy, watched by old Mr. Stone and his dream of universal brotherhood.
Galsworthy at his most searching on class and conscience, from the author of The Forsyte Saga. Download the free EPUB.
