Walter Wilding, raised at the London Foundling Hospital, inherits a wine business and then learns he may not be the child he was believed to be. He sets his partner George Vendale to find the true heir, while Vendale’s love for the niece of the smooth Swiss agent Obenreizer leads to forgery, suspicion and a deadly journey over a snowbound Alpine pass.
Written jointly by Dickens and Wilkie Collins, it is an ideal short taste of both. Download the free EPUB.
