Young, rich and secluded, Ashton-Kirk insists he is no detective, only an investigator. When his friend Pendleton brings Miss Edyth Vale to him, her trouble leads to a killing, a pair of portraits of General Wayne, a bayonet bought by persons unknown and an Italian named Spatola, while the police detective Stillman pursues his own theory.
An American gentleman-detective novel in the Holmes tradition, for collectors of early twentieth-century mysteries. Download the free EPUB.
