The Babe is a cherubic, irrepressible undergraduate in Fellows’ Buildings at Cambridge whose four years pass in rugby against Blackheath, a work-club that does no work, picnics, amateur theatricals and last-minute sapping for exams. Benson admits in the dedication that almost nothing remarkable happens, and that is precisely the joke.
Early, light-hearted Benson for readers who enjoy the Mapp and Lucia books or college comedy. Download the free EPUB.
