Merton Gill clerks in a small-town Illinois store and dreams of Western glory under the screen name Clifford Armytage. Determined to give the world better and finer films, he makes his way to Hollywood, where he haunts studio gates and learns how pictures are really made, and where his deadly earnestness proves to have a market he never imagined.
A sharp, affectionate satire of early Hollywood that became a Broadway hit and was filmed several times. Download the free EPUB.
