On a spring morning in Somerset, A. L. O. E. begins a tale that is half story, half allegory, showing pride as a jailer who takes prisoners in every rank. The Earl of Dashleigh, whose wife has left him, Annabella and a cottage family below the hall each fall into its snares, with quarrels, misadventures and a brother’s efforts to set things right.
A moral tale by the popular Victorian writer Charlotte Maria Tucker, for readers of religious fiction. Download the free EPUB.
