Kitty is wild with joy at an invitation to Harvard Class Day from her cousin Jack, and wilder still over what to wear. Each of the eight tales that follow turns on a proverb: a rich aunt tests her relations, a girl sculptor chooses between art and duty, a city party discovers a country Christmas, and soldiers swap stories on picket duty.
Alcott’s lively, moral short fiction for young readers, sharp on vanity and generous to good hearts. Download the free EPUB.
