First of the Chronicles of Aescendune, this tale was told by a schoolmaster to his senior boys to bring Church history alive. A young heir leaves the forest home of Aescendune for tenth-century London and falls in with the giddy, extravagant set around King Edwy and the beautiful Elgiva, while the stern Abbot Dunstan stands against them.
Victorian historical fiction for young readers, with a strong churchman’s sympathy for Dunstan. Download the free EPUB.
