A band of brothers and sisters in the English countryside endure lessons, puzzle over the grown-ups they call the Olympians, and escape into private dreams of sea-voyages, castles and islands. Eight episodes, told by one of the children looking back, include “The Magic Ring”, “A Saga of the Seas” and “The Reluctant Dragon”, the tale of a poetry-loving dragon and the boy who befriends him.
Written a decade before The Wind in the Willows, these pieces catch the logic of childhood with rare wit and tenderness. Download the free EPUB.
