A landlord sulking over his rival’s merry inn finds an unwelcome basket on his doorstep, and in it are infant twins. The tale follows the foundlings through a village musician’s care, a bird-catcher, an unjust punishment, a perilous journey on river ice and a sickbed toward the discovery of their origins.
An old-fashioned Victorian story of foundlings and providence, published by Gall and Inglis. Download the free EPUB.
