Wealthy and dying, Aunt Jane Merrick summons three nieces she has never met to her estate at Elmhurst to decide which of them shall inherit. Proud Beth De Graf from Ohio, polished Louise and plain-spoken Irish Patsy Doyle arrive with very different hopes, while a shy boy on the estate and a mysterious shabby visitor, Uncle John, complicate everything.
The first of the girls’ series Baum wrote as Edith Van Dyne, full of his warmth and humour. Download the free EPUB.
