In this sequel to Puck of Pook’s Hill, Puck again summons figures from England’s past to talk with two Sussex children, Dan and Una. They hear from Queen Elizabeth, from a shipwright who served King Henry VII, from the Marklake witches’ neighbours, and from a man who met Washington and the Seneca chiefs Cornplanter and Red Jacket, with poems such as “Cold Iron” between the stories.
It also gave the world Kipling’s poem “If—”, first printed here in 1910, and rewards adult readers as much as children. Download the free EPUB.
