Old Bruden is a double-barrelled shotgun, and it exerts a strange influence over young Philip Berkeley when he is left master of his uncle’s Pennsylvania country place. With his lively friend Chap he hunts, plans, rides a horse of Arabian blood and stumbles toward hidden treasure, learning along the way what it means to be responsible for a household.
A genial boys’ story by the author of “The Lady, or the Tiger?”, full of Stockton’s dry humour. Download the free EPUB.
