Dick, Tom and Sam Rover leave their uncle’s farm for Putnam Hall, a military boarding school run by the stern but kindly Captain Putnam. Friends and enemies are made on the first day; a bully, a paper chase routed through the Stanhope garden, drills, scrapes and a mystery or two follow, as the three brothers settle into cadet life with Larry, Fred and Frank.
