After quarrelling with his stepbrother, Phil Brent learns that he was adopted, and rather than stay under his stepmother’s roof he heads to New York. A kind old gentleman helps him find work as an errand boy, but a mysterious Mr. Lionel Lake seems to know more about Phil’s origins than he should.
A typical Alger tale of pluck and honesty rewarded, read by generations of American boys. Download the free EPUB.
