In May 1585 an eighteen-year-old parson’s son from Felton Regis catches sight of his Queen and soon finds himself serving a disorderly London printer. Errands to Oxford, a runaway scholar and a walk with a rebel lead him into trouble, then out to sea aboard the Miséricorde, on to Leith, and finally to the wild Antrim country where the McDonnells hold out and a beacon burns on Knocklay.
Reed, best known for The Fifth Form at St. Dominic’s, tells an Elizabethan adventure in a lively, self-mocking first person. Download the free EPUB.
