Thrown on his own resources as a small child, Nelson sells papers in New York and lodges with a grasping guardian who demands more board money than he can spare. Tempted by poverty but steady in character, he moves from the ferries and the newsstands toward something better, while wealthy relatives uptown begin to wonder what became of the missing boy.
Left unfinished at Alger’s death and completed by Edward Stratemeyer, a late entry in the newsboy tradition. Download the free EPUB.
