Jack Danvers travels west to a ranch in the sage-brush country near the backbone of the continent. Under the eye of old Hugh, a veteran of the plains, he watches prairie wolves and antelope, sees a grizzly killed, learns roping and riding, and hears the history of an old massacre, all drawn, Grinnell says, from real people and real events.
The first of Grinnell’s Jack books, written by a naturalist who knew the West firsthand. Download the free EPUB.
