In a log schoolhouse in the forests of Glengarry County, Ontario, the boys of the Twentieth school fight, skate, compete in spelling matches and test every new master. Young Hughie Murray, the minister’s son, gets into debt and trouble with the sly Foxy, while a strong new teacher wins the school over. The setting draws on the author’s own boyhood.
A hearty Canadian school story, rich in pioneer life and Scottish Presbyterian character. Download the free EPUB.
