Buck Bradford tells his own story. He and his disabled sister Flora suffer under a pair of tyrants, Captain Fishley and his wife, until Buck builds a raft hidden in the swamp and the two slip away at night. Their voyage carries them down the Wisconsin and the Mississippi toward New Orleans, through hunger, danger and strange river company.
The last of Optic’s Starry Flag Series, a river adventure with echoes of Huck Finn’s journey. Download the free EPUB.
