Lang turns from fairy tales to animals with this 1896 collection, illustrated by H. J. Ford. It gathers anecdotes and stories of a bear loose in Paris, Saï the panther, Cowper’s tame hares, the Dog of Montargis, the war-horse of Alexander, beavers at work, snakes, ants, monkeys on the march and elephants that seem to reason.
A companion to Lang’s coloured Fairy Books, perfect for reading aloud to animal-loving children. Download the free EPUB.
