A girl’s cry for help rings across Loon Pond as a small child sinks beside her boat, and the rescue that follows sets this story going. A summer in the woods and mountains brings a missing watch, a trial, a fire, a den in the hills and a small hero, mixing outdoor lore and nature study with lessons in honesty and Christian character.
