Each morning Old Mother West Wind comes down from the Purple Hills and shakes her Merry Little Breezes out of a bag onto the Green Meadows. Their play links a run of short tales that explain why Grandfather Frog has no tail and why Jimmy Skunk wears stripes, and follow Johnny Chuck, Jerry Muskrat, Billy Mink and Little Joe Otter through their days.
The first of Burgess’s woodland collections and still a gentle choice for reading aloud to small children. Download the free EPUB.
