Jonas, the steady, resourceful young farmhand of Jacob Abbott’s stories, spends a New England winter working on a farm. With his younger companion Josey he drives sleds into the woods, gathers rafters, cares for the cattle and horses and copes with snow and cold, while Abbott shows children how good sense, patience and obedience get a job done.
Quiet, instructive Victorian storytelling that offers a detailed picture of winter farm life. Download the free EPUB.
