Mr. George Henshaw creeps home late for dinner to find his wife has finished every scrap, and the comedy begins. In these stories bargemen, mates, night-watchmen and long-suffering husbands scheme against wives, relatives and each other along the river and in the little riverside streets, with plans that always go cheerfully wrong.
Jacobs at his best, with dialogue that still makes readers laugh aloud and Will Owen’s illustrations. Download the free EPUB.
