A single meditative ode in four movements: a prelude remembering a starlit night of youth, then sections on the Victories, the Penumbra and the Undiscovered World. Binyon sets the voices that lure men onward to mastery and glory against the questions that follow them, asking what all that conquering energy is for.
A late, ambitious work from the poet best known for For the Fallen, for readers of reflective post-war English verse. Download the free EPUB.
