Richard Morris’s edition of three poems from the same West Midland manuscript as Sir Gawain and the Green Knight. ‘Pearl’ is a father’s dream-vision of his lost daughter beyond a river of paradise; ‘Cleanness’ retells the Flood, Sodom and Belshazzar’s Feast; ‘Patience’ tells the story of Jonah. The Middle English text comes with marginal summaries and a glossary.
