Dedicated to Thomas Hardy, this collection gathers the ballads that made Newbolt famous, from “Drake’s Drum”, with the old admiral dreaming of Plymouth Hoe, to poems of Trafalgar, the Peninsula and the public school. Patriotism, duty and the sea run through every section.
The voice of Edwardian patriotism at its most stirring; its imperial attitudes are those of its day. Download the free EPUB.
