Austen abandoned this story of Emma Watson, brought up by a wealthy aunt and suddenly returned to her poor clergyman father and her husband-hunting sisters. Her fragment, with its country ball and its rival admirers Lord Osborne, Tom Musgrave and Mr. Howard, is printed here with a continuation by L. Oulton, who carries the story forward to a full ending.
