Old Thady Quirk, steward to the Rackrent family, recounts the hard-drinking Sir Patrick, the litigious Sir Murtagh, the cruel Sir Kit and the open-handed Sir Condy, each hastening the decline of their Irish estate. His devoted, artless narration lets the reader see far more than he says.
A short, sharp satire of Anglo-Irish landlordism, with Edgeworth’s glossary and an introduction by Anne Thackeray Ritchie. Download the free EPUB.
