Twin princes, the ambitious Almoran and the virtuous Hamet, inherit the throne of Persia together. When Almoran receives a talisman and the counsel of a powerful genie, he finds he can have almost anything he desires, including the woman his brother loves. Hawkesworth dedicated the tale to the young George III in 1761 as a lesson in virtue and good government.
A fine example of the eighteenth-century Oriental moral tale, in the tradition of Johnson’s Rasselas. Download the free EPUB.
