Bertha Clark Pope collected these letters, written mostly to younger writers Bierce mentored, including George Sterling, who contributes a memoir of his friend. Bierce comments bluntly on poetry, criticism, journalism, health and the follies of the literary world, offering advice that is by turns harsh, generous and very funny, in the years before he vanished into revolutionary Mexico.
A revealing self-portrait of the author of The Devil’s Dictionary and the Civil War stories, for anyone drawn to his sardonic voice. Download the free EPUB.
