Nathaniel Parker Willis was one of the most talked-about American magazine writers of his day, and Beers, a Yale professor, tells his story for the American Men of Letters series. It runs from his Boston ancestry and Yale years through the London society sketches of Pencillings by the Way, his homes at Glenmary and Idlewild, and the Home Journal.
A readable life of a once-famous literary celebrity, and a portrait of the American magazine world before the Civil War. Download the free EPUB.
