Fleeming Jenkin, professor of engineering at Edinburgh, laid submarine telegraph cables, worked with William Thomson on telegraphy, staged amateur theatricals and befriended the young Stevenson. Stevenson traces his family, youth and career, and includes Jenkin’s own vivid notes from cable-laying voyages between 1858 and 1873.
A rare biography from Stevenson, written with deep affection. Download the free EPUB.
