Written soon after Browning’s death in 1889, William Sharp’s short life follows the poet from his London birth in 1812 and his bookish Camberwell home through his early verse, his courtship of Elizabeth Barrett in Wimpole Street, their years in Italy and his long widowhood, with a running appraisal of the poems as they appeared.
A compact, sympathetic introduction to Browning by a fellow poet, ideal before tackling The Ring and the Book. Download the free EPUB.
