John Burroughs tells Audubon’s life with a chronology and long passages from his journals: his uncertain birth and French upbringing, failed business ventures in Kentucky, years of wandering the frontier to paint birds, the struggle to publish The Birds of America in Britain and his later expeditions, all set against the work of Alexander Wilson.
A short, sympathetic life of Audubon by America’s best-loved nature writer. Download the free EPUB.
