A personal sketch of the critic and biographer John Forster by a younger man who knew him. Fitzgerald describes Forster’s rise from struggling journalist to Lincoln’s Inn Fields and Palace Gate, his bluster and kindness, his friendship with Dickens and part in the amateur theatricals, and his place as arbiter of the literary world of his day.
A lively, anecdotal portrait for readers of Dickens and Victorian literary life. Download the free EPUB.
