Born in 1841, the same year as Edward VII, Sir Squire Bancroft looks back at the people he and his wife knew through decades on the London stage. Chapters recall the King, great ladies, churchmen, lawyers, painters, sculptors, musicians, writers and actors, with anecdotes of first nights, dinners and friendships.
A gracious late memoir full of Victorian and Edwardian celebrities seen close up. Download the free EPUB.
