Dickins planned to give years to the sculpture of the age after Alexander, and these chapters were his first sketch of it before he was killed in the First World War. He works through the schools of Pergamon, Alexandria and Rhodes and the mainland workshops, discussing groups such as the Pasquino and Scylla with Odysseus’s sailors. Mary Dickins edited the text, and Percy Gardner added a note.
