The ethnologist Alice Fletcher, who lived for years among Plains peoples, arranges Native American ceremonies and pastimes for young Americans to perform. She explains the place of song and dance in Indian life, sets out a drama of the life of the corn in five dances with its melodies, and describes games such as the plum-stone dice game, with directions for making the pieces.
A respectful 1915 record of songs and games gathered in the field, though its approach belongs to its time. Download the free EPUB.
