The Cambridge scholar takes the side roads of Jewish literature in short, learned chapters. He retells the ancient story of Ahikar, introduces Ibn Gebirol’s poem The Royal Crown, follows the friendship of Menasseh ben Israel and Rembrandt, and traces Hebrew themes in Scott, Byron’s Hebrew Melodies and Browning’s Ben Karshook.
A delightful ramble for anyone who loves literary byways where Jewish and English letters meet. Download the free EPUB.
