A medical scientist and devoted reader of Conan Doyle takes the canon seriously, and playfully, in a series of short essays. He examines Dr. Watson’s fondness for describing the weather, the anatomy and surgery in the stories, the mysterious brain fever that strikes so many characters, curare, the Portuguese man-of-war in The Lion’s Mane, dogs, botany, and Holmes’s habit of all-night chemical experiments.
A treat for Sherlockians who enjoy seeing the stories tested against real medicine and science. Download the free EPUB.
