Written soon after Hickok’s murder in Deadwood, this short biography follows Wild Bill from boyhood to his fight at Rock Creek station, service as a Union scout and spy, capture and escape, and his years as a frontier marshal. Buel insists that every man Hickok killed died in self-defence or the line of duty, and tells each gunfight with relish.
A colourful document of how the Wild Bill legend was made, with more embellishment than strict history. Download the free EPUB.
