The Detroit newspaper poet writes in plain rhyme and easy dialect about the things his readers knew best: hollyhocks by the porch, a wife who keeps the household running, children’s illnesses and recoveries, a grieving neighbour, hard work seen through, and the conviction that the gladdest soul is the one that builds a home. These are verses meant to be clipped and pinned up.
Sentimental, warm and once enormously popular, Guest’s poems still speak to readers who love simple verse. Download the free EPUB.
