Margaret Maclean nurses in Ward C of Saint Margaret’s, a children’s hospital where the trustees sort the little patients into curables and incurables. With the help of an Irish orderly’s lore and a fairy or two let in by the author’s own admission, she sets out to give the children what the board never budgeted for.
A tender fantasy for adults from the storyteller who later won the Newbery Medal for Roller Skates. Download the free EPUB.
