Claire Lang has stood in the November rain on Broadway for ten minutes when the crowd knocks her down, and Martha, a hearty Irish woman who works by the day, picks her up and takes her home. Martha’s homespun wisdom steers the penniless girl into a post as governess and a romance with the family she serves.
A warm-hearted, humorous New York story, the first of Lippmann’s Martha books. Download the free EPUB.
