Presented as the journal of the late Dr David Bannerman, forwarded to the FBI, the story records what happened when an egg in his Maine henhouse hatched something no hen had laid. Bannerman’s patient, wondering friendship with the small winged being who emerges, and her attempts to share ideas of time and God, make up a quiet first-contact tale.
